As a university student, people often ask me how I go about implementing sustainable fashion into my life on a realistic budget. As much as I love eco-friendly fashion retailers and everything they stand for, there is no doubt that most of them come with a hefty price tag. For this reason (and many, many others), I always encourage my fellow students to shop vintage whenever they can! Here are some of the main benefits of buying vintage:
Why Shop Vintage?
In most circumstances, vintage clothing is way more budget friendly than purchasing from sustainable retailers.
You can find high quality, staple items that will never be made the same way again.
Vintage clothing is unique, and can be easily tailored to your true style, rather than passing trends.
The vintage clothing industry has saved over 1 million tonnes of textiles from being disposed of in landfill every year. So, purchasing vintage is making a difference in more than one area.
Vintage shopping is an adventure. Even though sifting through racks of clothes can seem daunting to many, it is way more rewarding when you find an item you love.
Despite all of these positives, I understand that vintage shopping can be daunting and time consuming for many, particularly when there are so many stores to choose from nowadays. So, to encourage you all to get involved in the vintage clothing scene, I decided to test as many stores in the Adelaide area that I could so as to create this comprehensive list, all about the 5 best budget-friendly stores to get you started in shopping vintage. Here they are (in no particular order):

When stepping into their new basement headquarters on Hindley Street, expect to be wowed by their high quality selection of unisex clothing, spanning all the way from t-shirts and pants to accessories and shoes, all with vibrant patterns and bold colours.
